Mechanical Wear and Tear

The vibration and shock in mining vehicles, bulldozers, forklifts and other heavy equipment wear out standard computers and most other components. Whether the computer is dropped on the ground, a wheel might hit a stone or be exposed to shocks and bumps in a bulldozer, it must continue to work. To design a computer for years of rugged use, we have carefully selected and customized each component to withstand severe vibration and shock. These components are also designed to work in conjunction with each other.

Shocks, Bumps and Rough Treatment

We test our products to survive numerous shocks in each direction over a long period of time. Tests are performed by Kitron (former producer for SAAB and Bofors Military divisions) and SP -Swedish National Testing and Research Institute.

We comply with MIL810F 514.4 standard as well as IEC 68-2-36, IEC 68-2-27 and IEC 68-2-29. Most of our products have been through tougher tests than the reference standards require, tested to reveal the environmental performance.

150,000 Miles Tough Off-road Driving

JLT computers are tested for vibration in three directions with a frequency from 5 to 500 Hz for 3 hours to mimic and exaggerate real world stresses. The vibration tests put the products through stresses equal and similar to 150 000 miles of tough off-road driving. These tests are all made at different temperatures and moisture conditions to ensure reliability in any weather and prepare for work in any vehicle.

Technical Data
Vibration Random 4.45 g-rms, 5 - 500 Hz, 3 x 3 h
Shock Half-sine 30 g, 11 ms, 3 x X,Y,Z
Bumps Half-sine 15 g, 6ms, 500 x X,Y,Z
